Conflicts of interest

Anyone writing for DailyOrigin discloses any financial, personal or professional interest in a subject they cover. Where an interest is material, we either disclose it in the article or do not run the piece.

Gifts, trips and review units

We do not accept payment for coverage. Where a product is supplied for review, we say so in the article, and the supplier gets no say over the verdict. Review units are returned or disclosed as retained.

Sources

We honour agreements with sources. Where we grant anonymity, we explain in the article why it was necessary and what the source's vantage point is, so a reader can weigh the information. We do not grant anonymity for convenience or for attacks on named individuals.

Privacy and dignity

We weigh public interest against harm, particularly when reporting on private individuals, minors, victims of crime, and matters of health. We do not publish personal information that serves no journalistic purpose.

Fairness and right of reply

When an article makes a significant criticism of an identifiable person or organisation, we make a genuine effort to reach them for comment and reflect their response — including when they decline.

Plagiarism

Passing off anyone else's work as our own is grounds for immediate removal of the article and a public correction.
