Corrections Policy

How we correct errors, and how to tell us about one.

Last updated

We get things wrong sometimes. What matters is how quickly and how openly we fix them.

How to report an error

Use our contact form and select Correction request, or write to {{CORRECTIONS_EMAIL}}. Please include the article URL and, where you can, a source supporting the correction. We aim to respond within three business days.

What we do

Type of changeHow we handle it
Correction — a factual errorThe error is fixed and a dated correction notice is added to the article explaining what was wrong.
Clarification — accurate but capable of being misreadWording is sharpened and a dated note explains what was clarified.
Update — new developments in an ongoing storyThe article is updated, the "Updated" timestamp changes, and significant additions are noted.
Typographical fixCorrected without a notice, since nothing about the meaning changes.

What we do not do

We do not delete an article to make an error disappear, and we do not silently rewrite a published claim. If an article is withdrawn entirely — which is rare and reserved for serious cases such as a legal requirement — we leave an explanation at its URL rather than a blank page.

This page is reviewed regularly. If anything here is unclear or out of date, please contact us.
