Editorial Policy
The standards that govern what we publish and how we publish it.
This policy describes the standards every article on DailyOrigin is held to. It applies to everyone who writes or edits for this publication.
Accuracy comes first
We verify claims before publishing them. Where a fact comes from a single source, we say so. Where something is disputed, we present it as disputed rather than resolving it for the reader by omission. We distinguish clearly between:
- what has been confirmed,
- what has been claimed by an interested party, and
- what is our own analysis or inference.
Sourcing and attribution
We link to primary sources wherever they exist — the filing, the statement, the dataset, the paper — rather than to another outlet's write-up of them. When we rely on reporting by another publication, we say which one and link to it. We do not present another outlet's work as our own.
Original value
An article only earns publication if it adds something: original reporting, verification, context, a timeline, a comparison, an explanation, or practical guidance. We do not publish scraped content, unedited press releases, or lightly reworded versions of other people's articles.
Separating news from opinion
Opinion and editorial pieces are labelled as such, styled differently, and carry the author's name and standing. News reporting does not editorialise. A reader should never have to guess which they are looking at.
Corrections and updates
Substantive changes to a published article are recorded on the article with a date and a short note. Typographical fixes are made silently. See the Corrections Policy.
Use of AI tools
We use AI assistance for narrow, supporting tasks — outlining, grammar, headline alternatives, metadata drafting, tagging suggestions. No article is published automatically, and every piece is read, checked and approved by a person before it goes live. Our full position is in the AI Use Policy.
Images and copyright
We publish images only where we hold the rights or a valid licence, and we credit the source. If you believe we have used your work without permission, contact us and we will act promptly.
Independence
No advertiser, sponsor or commercial partner reviews or influences our editorial content before publication. Sponsored material is labelled unmistakably and is never presented as independent reporting.
