Exactly where AI tools are and are not used in our work.
We use AI tools, and we would rather tell you where than let you wonder.
Where we use AI
- Drafting and testing outlines before reporting begins.
- Grammar, clarity and structural editing suggestions.
- Generating headline and summary alternatives for a human to choose between.
- Drafting metadata, suggesting tags and proposing internal links.
- Summarising long documents so a person knows where to read closely.
Where we do not use AI
- We do not publish machine-generated articles.
- We do not let a model decide what is true, or use one as a source of fact.
- We do not generate quotes, sources, statistics or events.
- We do not publish AI-generated images as though they were photographs of real events.
Human accountability
Every published article is read, verified and approved by a named person, who is accountable for it. Where AI assistance materially shaped a piece, the article records that fact.
